We offer intensive General English courses for international students and travellers.We also offer a selection of activities to complement our part time English courses -surfing, diving, activities and music.

Our Full time English course is listed on CRICOS, the Commonwealth Government Register of International Courses for Overseas Students.

TEACHERS
All of our teachers are qualified and experienced in working with overseas students. Teachers must have University degrees and TESOL qualifications. We will help you to develop your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

Classes focus on effective communication in English.In the classroom, we use modern text books (New Headway Series), audio and video CD/tapes, local newspapers and magazines. To emphasize the oral communicative approach to learning a language, we also use songs, drama and coffee groups. The practical usage of English is strongly encouraged at the school.

TIMETABLE
All students take an initial assessment test, are graded and issued with a weekly timetable. Our timetable offers classes each morning from 9am until 12.30pm. All students, part and full time, attend morning classes. Some part time classes are held in the afternoon during busy periods

AFTERNOON ELECTIVES

1. FULL TIME ENGLISH
Full time students take another hour of tuition plus one hour of self access study from 1.30pm until 3.00pm.
This is a CRICOS registered course (039391C)- A student visa is required if enrolling for more than 12 weeks.

1. CAMBRIDGE EXAM PREPARATION

CAE + FCE - 12 weeks course - Maximum 12 students per class
Cambridge examinations provide successful students with an internationally recognised certificate of English language proficiency. Our course prepares students for the FCE + CAE Cambridge Examinations held each year in March, June and December. Focus is on speaking reading listening and writing and includes a full practise test under exam conditions.

2. ENGLISH and SURFING - Very popular course!

Learn To Surf Course
This is a 2 week learn to surf course for beginner surfers. The course includes part time English on weekdays plus 8 days of afternoon surfing classes (2.5 hours) with a local surfing school.
Surfing Byron Bay is an accredited surfing school and all coaches are professional surfing instructors. The school is 3 minutes walk from our school.

You are provided with transport to and from the school to the beach, a surfboard, wetsuit, rash vest and sunscreen. All students receive a book - “Safe Surfing” by the Surfing Australia, the governing body of surfing in Australia. Certificates are presented to successful students who attend the whole of the course.

It's great fun and very safe!

English Plus Surfing 2
If you can not start our Learn to Surf course on the first Monday of the month, You may choose 3 classes per week at the surf school. These lessons can also be done on the weekends.

N.B. Learn to Surf courses are conducted with an experienced and locally registered operators with proven safety records. All instructors are accredited with the Australian Surfing Association. Insurance is included with enrolment.

3. ACTIVITIES

Students take part in activities that are selected to motivate the usage of their language skills in our community and as well to sample some of the wonderful things our town and its surroundings have to offer.

Activities: include sea kayaking with dolphins, bush walking, mountain biking, yoga, golf, make a didgeridoo, visits to studios of local artists and musicians, canoe trips, bingo at the RSL club, art classes, whale watching, fishing, horse riding, excursions, indoor rock climbing, trapeze lessons,etc.

4. DIVING - Students attend a PADI dive course each afternoon - minimum level of English required - pre-intermediate! N.B. Dive courses are conducted with experienced and locally registered operators with proven safety records. Dive courses offer PADI 5 Star instruction to all levels. 5. MUSIC - students can learn most musical instruments (guitar, piano, drums, saxophone etc) by studying at the Byron Bay Academy of Music situated opposite the school. Three one hour individual lessons per week are included in this option.

7. FARMSTAY - Students have the opportunity to live and work on a WWOOFA farm. These are organic farms situated in the Northern Coast region, not far from Byron Bay. Students receive free board in exchange for 4 hours of work each day. This option is usually available after a student has completed a four week course. A $50 WWOOFA joining fee applies.Please see www.wwoof.com.au

8. INDIVIDUAL TUITION - The school offers individual tuition if a student requires to compliment a General English Intensive course with some English for Special Purpose e.g. business, tourism, computers, art, music etc. The school recommends a maximum of two hours per day face to face tuition. Fee = $70 per hour.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
All students receive a certificate of completion on the successful completion of their course.
